Admissions and finances

Q. How can I apply for an Aldar Academies place?
A. Applications can be made online by visiting the individual Academy page, or by visiting the academy in person. For more guidance on the application process, please click here.

Q. Which academies can I apply to?
A. In Abu Dhabi we have three Primary schools teaching FS1 to Year 6: Al Muna Academy, The Pearl Academy and Al Mamoura Academy. Al Mamoura Academy also offers a girls-only Secondary school, while Al Bateen Academy is a Secondary school teaching Year 7 to Year 13.

Al Yasmina Academy is a Primary through Secondary school welcoming students from FS1 to Year 13, while West Yas Academy is our first American Massachusetts State Curriculum school. For the 2016-17 academic year, West Yas Academy teaches Kindergarten through to Grade 6, and will open Grades 7 to 8 from the 2017-18 academic year. Grades 9 to 12 will open soon after.

Our one school in Al Ain is Al Ain Academy, a Primary through Secondary school teaching FS1 to Year 12.

Q. Which year group do I apply for?
A. Aldar Academies’ Admission Policy requires children to be a minimum of 3 years of age for FS1 and 4 years of age for FS2 by the 1st September, or 3.8 years for KG1 and 4.8 years for KG2 by the 1st September. This applies to new applications only. Aldar Academies is regulated by ADEK (Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge) and we are required to operate in line with ADEK regulations.

Q. How much is the bus fee?

A. The bus service is available to all students and is provided at a fixed fee of AED 5,000 per student per academic year. With the exception of Al Yasmina Academy which has a fee of AED 5,841 per student, per academic year

Q. Do I have to pay for my child's Academy books?
A. All books for curriculum activities are included in your school fees.  However please note that books for any extra curricular activities provided by an ADEK approved party may incur an extra charge.

Teaching and extra-curricular

Q. Which curricula are available?
A. We offer three separate curricula across our seven academies; the English National Curriculum, American Massachusetts State Curriculum, and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).
 
All students also complete a programme in Arabic and Social Studies, in accordance with the UAE Ministry of Education requirements, while our Muslim students follow an Islamic Studies programme.

Q. What extra-curricular activities are available?
A. We offer a wide selection of extra-curricular activities across our Academies as part of our Creative activities, Action, Service (CAS) programme. These include Arabic calligraphy, Arts and Craft, Athletics, Badminton, Baking, Band Club, Basketball, Bloggers Club, Board games, Book club, Capoeira, Choir, Coding Club, Construction, Cookery, Creative writing, Cricket, Cross Stitch, Dance, Decoupage, Drama, Drawing, Energy Club, Expeditions, Football, French, Girls Football, Graphic design, International award schemes, iPad, Jewelry making, Jiu Jitsu Lego mind storm, Mandarin Chinese, Maths, Music, Netball, Origami,Photography, Play writing, Quran Club, Rounders, Rugby, S Club, Sailing and water sports, Skipping, Spanish, Stories of Prophet Muhammed (P.B.U.H), Swimming, Theatre/performance work, and Touch Rugby.  

Students are also encouraged to be involved with leadership opportunities, such as the Student Council, International Award, and Sports Leader programmes. 

Q. What are the class sizes?
A. On average, class sizes consist of 25 students at primary ages and 23 students during the secondary years. Classes are much smaller at post-16 level with groups of up to 15 students, depending on options and the courses chosen.

Academy facilities and services

Q. What teaching facilities are available?
A. We’ve invested in some of the most advanced education facilities available to provide our students with the best education possible.
 
This includes SMART Whiteboards in every classroom, 3D technology, Virtual Reality headsets and Augmented Reality applications. Selected academies also feature a multi-purpose sports hall,  25  metre  swimming pools, AstroTurf playing fields, research laboratory, music recording studio and an 850-seat auditorium, among other facilities.
 
Q. Is transportation provided for my child?
A. Yes. Hafilat School Transportation is our current provider and operates a safe and convenient transport service to all of our seven academies. A door-to-door service is available where possible. This service will be extended to support extra-curricular activities from September 2017, although some academies already benefit from this logistical support.
 
We are confident in Hafilat School Transportation’s ability to meet the standards and requirements of the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) and Abu Dhabi’s Department of Transport (DOT).
 
Q. Is catering available?
A. A catering service is currently provided across four of our seven academies: West Yas Academy, Al Mamoura Academy, Al Yasmina Academy and Al Ain Academy. Our chosen catering partner is Emirates Taste, which offers a number of healthy eating options for students. Students also have the option to bring in and safely store their own packed lunch each day.
 
Q. Do your academies have security on-site?
A. Yes. Students at each of our seven academies are kept safe by a discrete security team (male and female) that works on-site 24/7, 365 days per year. The size of the security team at each  academy  also increases during the academic year.
 
The CCTV system at each academy was upgraded during 2016 to extend better coverage across key internal and external areas of the school, supporting staff should incidents require further investigation.
 
Q. Where can I purchase school uniforms?
A. Aldar Academies uniforms are available exclusively from Zaks Uniforms. You can purchase items online at zaksstore.com simply by searching for the  academy  name. Alternatively, you can visit a Zaks’ Uniforms retail branch in Abu Dhabi at Mushrif Mall or Al Raha Mall, or in Al Ain at Lulu Hypermarket.
